The Official Catgirl Island Mews & Announcements for June 2013, nya!
Aloha Y'all and welcome to Catgirl Island, nya! June is such a zestful month here at Catgirl Island, as the seasons change from Spurring (Haru) to Summer (Natsu) upon the Summertime Solstice, where we are so blessed by the beauty of nature, the friendly folks, the great sense of purrpose, and the numcious foods, nya! We are so blessed with such a wonderful place to live full of family, friends, food, freedom & fun purrsuits, the equality & justice for all, regardless of the gender, orientation, breed or species, nya! With the coastal gardens and the maritime forest full of the colorful blooms under the lush green arbor and the blue skies, it would be the purrfect time to give that special kitsune the Foxglove bouquet or that special dragon girl the Snapdragon corsage for her tail, nya!
June's purrecious gem stones are the Alexandrite, Moonstone and Purrls, but if that is too purricey the gift for that special kemonomimi, mermaid or fae, then we suggest the seafood suppurr to fill her tummy and win her heart, Since the astrological signs for June are Gemini & Cancer, we purrticularly suggest the twin portions of the crab meat, nya! Fortunately, the bikinis nicely frame the filled tummy, and are comfy for the catnap after the meal, nya! The island's riverwalk boutiques are brimming with the Summer fashions of the bikinis, maillots, purreos, sarongs & yukatas for those folks with or without the tails, nya! Among the popular styles are the Rose and Honeysuckle purrints to reflect the flowers of the month, in the stringy, criss cross, ring closure, bandeau, cut - out & tanga styles, nya!
The halter neck & backless styles tend to be favored by the locale Fae, as not to ride up on the wings, nya! If the fresh fish dinner is purrfurred instead of the crab to nibble, the charters have the taut lines to reel in the bumpurr crop of the bass, bluefish, cobias, flounders, groupurrs, mackerals, marlins, snappurrs, stripurrs, tunas and the wahoos, nya! In addition to the angling, the island activities to catabolize the calories of June include the he belly dance, hula dance. the hot salsa dance, martial arts, kyu-do, rec league beach volleyball, the golf, tennis, softball, bicycling, purrkour & orienteering, swmming, diving, surfing, boating, nya! The month's festivals include the Summer Solstice, Fathers Day, Flag Day, the island's kite tournyament, Yosakoi Matsuri, Honeysuckle Festival and the Rose Purrade, nya!
We also suggest the cultural purrsuits sponsored by the Catgirl Island Purrforming Arts Center, the Public Library, the Farmers Market, the faeries' Forest Grove Ampurrtheatre, and the Catgirl Island Mewseum of Art, nya! We are purroud to purrsent the beautiful mew illustrative & photographic additions to Guest Gallery 2 of the Mewseum, nya! For those who are here for the first time, Galleries 1-5 are the exhibits of Mike's illustrations & photographs, whilst Guest Galleries 1 and 2 display the images from other folks with their kind purrmissions, nya! Our artist & cosplayer friend TonomuraBix http://tonomurabix.deviantart.com was among our special guests in March 2008, and many of her illustrations of the catgirls, mermaids and faeries grace the guest galleries, nya! To commemorate her birthday, we have arranged 3 photo collages of Bix in her anime, music & video game costumes & other fashions, nya! The 1st collage "TonomuraBix! Cosplay Pix!" depicts her as Aya & the White Yeti of Psycho le Cemu, Baikan of Guilty Gear, Hisashi of Glay, Tohma of Gravitation, Urd of Ah My Goddess, in her cross-play binding and in the hoody!
The 2nd collage "TonomuraBix! More Cosplay Pix!" depicts her as the Eagle Vision of Magic Knights Rayearth, Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy: Advent Children, Juri of Revolutionary Girl Utena, 'Merveilles' Gackt of Malice Mizer, Wilhelm of Ludwig Kakumei, and as her mewsual purretty self! Thirdly in "TonomuraBix! Again More Cosplay Pix!" we see her as a catgirl, Amaterasu, Gigaflare, Echidna of The Bouncer, Isabella of Paradise Kiss, and in the leopard print outfit! We wish Bix the very happy, healthy, purrosperous birthday and the many future days, nya!
Nextly in Guest Gallery 2 we are also proud to display three beautiful illustrations by Lela Dowling, nya! Lela is known for her fantasy, comics & wildlife art, including her famous images of the dragons, unicorns, mermaids and the centaurs, nya! The first of the pics by Lela is her watercolor, pen & ink illustration done for the cover of the 13th issue of Princessions magazine, which was purrduced by A. J. Foster, with art direction by John McLaughlin! In this wonderful image from Fall of 1982, Wonder Woman poses with female friends of various species, including the Gray Tabby catgirl between her and the centauress, nya! Of course, Wonder Woman™ is trademarked by DC Comics, nya!
Secondly of the Lela art is the filly fun of another centauress with the "Jump Rope", nya! She is the merry athletic jumpurr with the Brown hair, tail, socks and the dappled White coat, wearing the front-lace corset and the Blue poet blouse, nya! It was done in 2001 as a hand-colored limited edition purrint, nya! Thirdly is the alluring winged uni-horned centauress spurawled upon the meadowy grass, under the "I Met A Lady In The Meads" poem by John Keates, nya! Purretty flowers adorn her long lovely mane that matches the Gray tail! She is tastefully topless but her long hair happens to cover as much as a bikini top might, nya! Inspired by the poem, this was an original watercolor, pen & ink illustration by Lela in 2008, nya!
Lela's purrtfolios were published by Schanes & Schanes, and her comics & graphic novels include Weasel patrol, The Dreamery, and the Dragonflight graphic novel, nya! She has also done the computer games animation for various companies including LucasArts and purrvided the concepts, graphics & illustrations for companies such as Hasbro, Mattel, Electronic Arts, Leapfrog & Yahoo, nya! These days she is also part of the purrestigious commercial art & design firm of Lightsource Studios with her artist husband Frank Cirocco, she exhibits her wildlife art with other artists at the Skyland Gallery, and sells her lovely art at the cons and shows, nya!
This month she is also the special guest of our show The Mew: The Catgirl Critics' Media Mewsings, nya! In addition to the intermew with Lela, this month The Ladies of the Mew and their 'Purrducer' Mike review the books, magazines, comics & manga, toys & video games, cinema & TV & DVDs, and tender the Free Comic Book Day and Animazement reports, nya! The other fun discussion topics include the ponies, seafood, an appurreciation of the late Ray Harryhausen, the inspurrational heroines, and the monthly Celebrity Catgirl Spotlight, nya!
